Sinomach subsidiary Sinoconst, a leading Chinese engineering and construction company, has successfully completed the construction of an advanced sugar processing plant in San Buenaventura, Bolivia. The state-of-the-art facility is not only helping the country reduce its reliance on sugar imports but is also providing a significant boost to the local economy by creating over 400 jobs for the residents.

Equipped with cutting-edge technologies, the sugar processing plant has the capacity to process an impressive 7,000 tons of sugarcane per day. This increased production will contribute to Bolivia's self-sufficiency in sugar production and reduce the need for costly imports. The plant features an edible alcohol factory and a biomass (bagasse) power station, further highlighting its commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly practices.

The construction of the sugar processing plant was not without challenges. The project team had to overcome the difficulties of the plant's remote location and the treacherous 1,000+ km journey through the Northern Yungas Road. Despite these obstacles, the team's dedication, perseverance, and superior engineering expertise ensured the successful completion of the project.

The plant generated significant employment opportunities, but also injected new vitality into the local economy. The creation of over 400 jobs has improved the income of the residents, leading to an overall enhancement in their quality of life. The project team's commitment to both local and global sustainable development has been recognized, as the project was awarded the prestigious China Construction Engineering Luban Prize (Overseas), further showcasing its excellence.

The successful collaboration between Sinomach and Bolivia in the construction of this state-of-the-art sugar processing plant signifies a significant milestone in further strengthening of bilateral ties between the two nations. With its advanced design, sustainable practices, and positive impact on the local community, this project stands as a shining example of China's ongoing commitment to the Belt and Road Initiative and its dedication to fostering international cooperation and development.
